This photo represents the freedom to wander. This camel in the Sahara Desert at Mergouza, Morocco, is making its way to a watering hole, but he’ll eventually head back to join the other camels in his herd.
To me, travel is about breaking free from the constraints of everyday life. It’s a chance to ditch the routine and not have everything so tightly scheduled.
At the time I took this photo, my travel buddy and I had broken away from our tour group of 8 and made a plan to take the overnight bus to Fes. So, we spent the day at the Auberge Kasbah with this view! Eventually a delivery truck was heading into town and the driver took us to the bus station.
By morning we had decided to skip Fes and go on to Chefchaouen based on the recommendation of another traveler. It was the best decision and I’m glad I didn’t get off the bus.
